Jonas Martens, CEO of the Better Future Factory, speaker at BDW Congress

In the framework of the Barcelona Design Week, Jonas Martens – CEO of the Better Future Factory, partner company of the Circular Design project – was one of the speakers at the BDW Congress on June 13th within the track ‘Sustainable Transformation by Design’.

Jonas Martens is also co-initiator of innovative projects conjugating sustainability with entrepreneurship such as Perpetual Plastic – interactive recycling for events, Refil – recycled high quality 3D printer ink, New Marble – recycled high marble tiles, BroodNodig – bread waste to energy, Uptown – an open source platform for recycled functional building components for the housing sector, and Solarbear – affordable solar powered refrigeration for the developing world.

During his speech, Jonas explored how design can maximize the potential of companies to transform environmental challenges into economic opportunities, generating sustainable consumption and production and, on the other hand, how design can promote social commitment and the ability to link the well-being of all to globalization and sustainability.
